Summary: Introduced in 1937 as the Gibson Super Jumbo, the Gibson SJ-200 would go on to be one of the most recognizable guitars throughout music history, having been used by countless players across several genres. Originally Gibson's top of the line flat top, it's projection, balance and signature style have made it one of Gibson’s most popular acoustic guitars. This 1952 SJ-200 is by far the best example of a post-war SJ-200 we have had in the shop, and this one is one of only 112 sunburst models produced by Gibson in 1952.

Body: Spruce top with flamed maple back and sides, cream binding, sunburst nitrocellulose finish.

Neck: Maple with a rosewood fingerboard, 25.5” scale length, 1 11/16” nut width, Mother of Pearl Graduated Crown inlays, 20 frets.

Pickups/Hardware: SJ-200 moustache bridge, Kluson keystone tuning keys, engraved flower tortoise shell pickguard, bone nut, bone saddle.

Cosmetics: This guitar has wear that is consistent with an instrument from this time period. The finish has worn beautifully all over the guitar’s body and neck. There is buckle rash on the back of the body. There is wear around the pickguard. There is finish worn off on the back of the neck near the third fret and lots of wear around the pickguard and near the soundhole. (See Photos)

Playability: Our in-house guitar tech has inspected, setup, and restrung this guitar with a new set of 12’s. The neck is straight, the truss rod is fully functional, and the action has been setup low and comfortable. The frets are in great shape with no major grooves or divots from use and it plays beautifully up and down the fretboard with no dead spots or choking out.

Modifications: This instrument was sent to a professional luthier for repair. The luthier, Eric Daw, did a partial refret to the bound neck, a minor fret level, fixed multiple cracks in the body, crafted a new bone saddle, reglued 4 loose braces, restrung, setup, and dialed in this amazing guitar.

Weight: 4 lbs., 13 oz.

Case: This guitar ships in the original Gibson hard shell case, professionally packaged, and fully insured.
