Summary: This is a 1970’s Swedish made, Hagstrom ScanBass in great shape and 100% original and functional. These basses have a Mahogany body and neck, which makes this instrument a heavy sustain monster. Hagstrom started making basses in the early 70’s as the Jazz bass but had to stop calling it that in 1976, due to a Fender lawsuit. These basses were an attempt to steal the Fender market as these are very similar. Scan basses were only made from 1977-1979 and are very rare. This bass plays and sounds great. It feels great all the way up the neck.

Body: Solid mahogany, double cutaway, gloss finish.

Neck: Bound mahogany with a rosewood fingerboard, block inlays, 20 frets, 1 5/8” nut width, fender style headstock, gloss finish on the back.

Pickups/Hardware: Schaller tuning keys, two single coil pickups, pickup covers, one volume/two tone knobs, black 4-ply pickguard, three strap buttons (two on the bottom of the body), patented H-Bar truss rod, 3-bolt neck.

Cosmetics: The cosmetics of this bass are consistent with an instrument of this age. There are small dents and light scratches on the body. There are some cracks and dents in the finish on the headstock. Overall, this bass is in good shape and sounds great.

Playability: Our in-house guitar tech has inspected, setup, and restrung this bass. The neck is straight, the truss rod is fully functional, and the action has been setup low and comfortable. The frets are low and in great shape with no major grooves or divots from use and it plays beautifully up and down the fretboard with no dead spots or choking out.

Weight: 9 lbs., 6 oz.

Case: This bass ships in a hardshell case, professionally packaged, and fully insured.
