Summary: This 1973-5 Ovation Deacon was very much a deluxe version of the Ovation Breadwinner - with a gloss finish, bound neck and intricate diamond, and pickups are not just another copy of the Humbucking pickups, but instead were designed by Ovation to give you the quietest full-range pickups to date. These sensitive pickups have bright, sustaining treble and full, clean, rich bass that will deliver some real raunchy sounds. With a built in FET preamplifier that has simplified controls and delivers the fullest, widest range of sound, has a band rejection filter and is volume compensated on all controls. All controls are isolated in the circuitry so that changes in volume or amplifier impedance have no effect on the tone control.

Body: Mahogany in a Sunburst finish.

Neck: Mahogany with a ebony fingerboard, 24.75” scale length, 1 11/16” nut width, 24 frets,  diamond inlays.

Pickups/Hardware: 12 pole double coil pickups, 12:1  tuning keys, brass bridge, large black knobs.

Cosmetics: This guitar is in excellent shape. It has light surface scratches and small indentations on the body, with wear around the edges of the headstock. The back of the neck is clean, and the frets show minimal wear. The back has light buckle rash. Overall, this guitar plays very well and sounds fantastic.

Playability: Our in-house guitar tech has inspected, setup, and restrung this instrument with a new set of strings. The neck is straight, the truss rod is fully functional, and the action has been setup low and comfortable. The frets are in great shape with no major grooves or divots from use and it plays beautifully up and down the fretboard with no dead spots or choking out.
