Summary: The classic wood combination of a solid Sitka spruce top and solid mahogany back and sides provides remarkable volume, clarity and sustain. The D-40’s timeless appointments include a vintage style rosette, tortoiseshell pickguard, white binding, and Guild’s peak logo inlaid on the headstock. The D-40 is perfect for players looking for that ultimate dreadnought sound.

Body: Spruce top with Mahogany back and sides.

Neck: Mahogany with a Rosewood fingerboard, 25.5” scale length, 1 11/16” nut width, 12” radius, 20 frets total/14 open frets.

Pickups/Hardware: Rosewood bridge, tortoise pickguard, white/black dot endpins, five Guild tuning keys/one Grover tuning key (G string), single volume control. The pickup does work but the volume control knob is not connected & the output is always at full volume.

Cosmetics: This guitar has various nicks, dings, and scratches on the body (See Photos Please). The back of the neck has the finish worn of in areas. The headstock has noticeable wear. The top of the body has regular wear from playing. The guitar plays great and sounds amazing.

Playability: Our in-house guitar tech has inspected, setup, and restrung this instrument with a new set of strings. The neck is straight, the truss rod is fully functional, and the action has been setup low and comfortable. The frets are in great shape with no major grooves or divots from use and it plays beautifully up and down the fretboard with no dead spots or choking out.

Modifications: The G string tuning key has been changed to a Grover and the volume knob doesn't seem to do anything so you can't turn down the volume.
