Summary: Jackson Guitars is known for its slender, elegant designs, and feature aggressive motifs that are popular with hard rock and metal musicians. The Jackson Soloist was first introduced by Jackson Guitars in 1984. There were originally two forms of the Soloist, Custom or Student. The intended meaning behind these designations is like Gibson’s Standard and Custom.
This 1986 Jackson Soloist Student is very similar to Jeff Beck’s famous pink Jackson, “Tina”. It originally had three J-100 single coil pickups; the bridge pickup has been changed to a Seymour Duncan Hot Rails humbucker. It has a factory Kahler tremolo system although, the nut has been changed to a Tusq nut, the original is included in the case. This Soloist has a super-fast neck, and it sounds amazing.

Body: Maple center (neck through construction), Poplar wings, finished in a gloss Pink with Platinum Pearl.

Neck: Maple with a Rosewood fingerboard, 25.5” scale length, 1 11/16” nut width, 16” radius, 24 frets, pearl dot inlays. (Measurements: Depth-1st: .787", 12th-.821" - Width-1st: 1.673", 12th: 2.031")

Pickups/Hardware: Two J-100 single coil pickups, one Seymour Duncan Hot Rails humbucker in the bridge position (non-original), master volume/master tone controls/three on/off mini-toggles for each pickup, Kahler tremolo system (original nut included in the case), black closed gear tuning keys.

Cosmetics: This guitar is in great shape. It has light surface scratches and very light buckle rash on the back of the body. Some of the finish has worn off around the fingerboard and the first 5 or 6 frets have light wear. There is a hole on the back of the body where someone installed a strap button. The screws on the hardware have started to lightly rust. Overall, this guitar plays very well and sounds fantastic.

Playability: Our in-house guitar tech has inspected, setup, and restrung this instrument with a new set of strings. The neck is straight, the truss rod is fully functional, and the action has been setup low and comfortable. The frets are in great shape with no major grooves or divots from use and it plays beautifully up and down the fretboard with no dead spots or choking out.

Modifications: A Tusq nut has been installed (original included in the case). The bridge pickup has been changed to a Seymour Duncan Hot Rails Humbucker. A strap button has been installed on the back of the body but has been removed.

Weight: 8.545 lbs.

Case: This guitar ships in a Fender style case with red interior, professionally packaged, and fully insured.
