1999 Gibson ES-335 DOT
Summary: The Gibson ES-335 is the cornerstone of the Gibson ES line-up. From its inaugural appearance in 1958, the Gibson ES-335 set an unmatched standard. The pearloid dot inlay rosewood fingerboard on a hand-rolled mahogany neck reminds players where it all started. Gibson's Calibrated T-Type humbucking pickups are paired with Gibson’s hand-wired control assembly. Tuning stability and precise intonation are provided by the Grover tuning keys, paired with a lightweight Aluminum ABR-1 bridge and Stop Bar tailpiece, anchored by steel thumb-wheels and tailpiece studs.
Body: Top/Back: 3-ply Maple/Poplar/Maple, Bracing: Spruce, single-ply cream binding, Black gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish.
Neck: Mahogany with a bound Rosewood fingerboard, 12” radius, 22 medium jumbo frets, Graph Tech nut, 1.7” nut width, 24.75” scale length, acrylic dots.
Pickups/Hardware: Calibrated T-Type rhythm/lead humbucking pickups, ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge, aluminum stop bar tailpiece, Vintage Deluxe Keystone tuning keys, volume/tone controls.
Cosmetics: This guitar has light surface scratches throughout. It has a few indentations on the top and back of the body. The headstock has a bit of noticeable wear. The back of the body has light buckle rash and has been worn down to a satin-like finish in areas. There is a dent on the back of the neck near the 9th fret/high E string side. The frets show light wear. Overall, this guitar has been played has a few cosmetic issues, but it plays and sounds fantastic.
Playability: Our in-house guitar tech has inspected, setup, and restrung this guitar with a new set of 10’s. The neck is straight, the truss rod is fully functional, and the action has been setup low and comfortable. The frets are in great shape with no major grooves or divots from use and it plays beautifully up and down the fretboard with no dead spots or choking out.
