Summary: From Eastman Guitars: In 1955, Valco introduced the National model 1109 -- also known as the Town and Country -- determined to not only compete-with, but to outdo Gibson’s Les Paul. With similar chrome-covered pickups, additional knobs for more tonal variety, and dual upper-and-lower pickguards, the Town and Country -- in the opinion of we Valco diehards -- ushered in another, less commonly known, American classic.
With this in our hearts, we’ve done what we do best. We took an already great thing and made it better. Our Airline Town & Country model boasts two ‘Vintage Voiced Single Coil’ pickups flanking an Alnico Hot 10 humbucker. Each of these three pickups has their own independent volume and tone-control knob above for fine-tuning your sound, and they share a master volume control below for quick and easy access. Vintage-inspired rubber body binding, pinstriped pickguards, and block inlays are sure to attract admires and blow crowds away.

Body: Tone chambered mahogany with a deep dark red sunburst finish that Eastman calls “Redburst”.

Neck: Bolt-on, fully bound maple neck with a pau ferro fingerboard, block inlays, 20 frets, vintage Kluson style tuning machines, 25.5” scale length, 1 11/16” nut width.

Pickups/Hardware: 2 Airline Vintage Voiced Single Coils, One Alnico Hot-10, 3-way switch, 3 volume knobs, 3 tone knobs, 1 master volume, tune-o-matic adjustable bridge.

Cosmetics: This Airline is in pretty good shape – there are some signs of pick scratching on the pickguard and below the pickguard on the body. Overall, this guitar is in great shape.

Playability: Our in-house guitar tech has inspected, setup, and restrung this guitar with a new set of 10’s. The neck is straight, the truss rod is fully functional, and the action has been setup low and comfortable. The frets are in great shape with no major grooves or divots from use and it plays beautifully up and down the fretboard with no dead spots or choking out.

Weight: 7 lbs, 14 oz
