Summary: This 1979 Gibson Les Paul 25/50 Anniversary, introduced in 1978, was created to commemorate the 25th Anniversary of the Les Paul Model and 50 years of Les Paul being in show-business. There were just over 3,400 examples made and shipped through late 1979, and features a 5 piece maple neck, gold and chrome hardware, coil tap mini switch, and most importantly: the 25/50 inlay on the headstock, all of which combine to give this Les Paul model its own identity. 

 

Body: Mahogany in Tobacco Sunburst finish.


Neck:  Five-piece flame Maple with a Ebony fingerboard,  24.75” scale length, 1.62” nut width, 22 frets, Mother of Pearl  and Abalone split rectangles inlays. Nut dimensions: 1st fret width: 1.65", depth: .5"- 12th fret width: 2.03", depth: .94"

 

Pickups/Hardware: Bridge: Tarback "S" Humbucker pickup Neck: Gibson Alnico V humbucker (replacement), stereo mini coil split switch, Schaller tuning keys, Nashville bridge with TP-6 fine tuning tailpiece bridge, black speed knobs, brass nut.

 

Cosmetics: This guitar is in great shape. It has light surface scratches on the body. The back of the neck is has some dings, which do not affect playability, and the frets show minimal wear. The back has light buckle rash. Overall, this guitar plays very well and sounds fantastic.


Modifications: New Gibson neck pickup, Alnico V


Playability: Our in-house guitar tech has inspected, setup, and restrung this instrument with a new set of strings. The neck is straight, the truss rod is fully functional, and the action has been setup low and comfortable.
